What is the typical race day temperature?
The average high temperature in Chicago in May is around 65°F. The average low is 50°F.

How do I get to the race site?

Where should I park?

What is the field limit?
Our course can support a total field of 3,500 athletes.

Will there be an expo?
No. There will not be an expo for the Half Marathon or 10K.

What if there is bad weather?
The race will go on rain or shine.

What is the award breakdown?
Each participant in the Half Marathon will receive a Finisher Medal upon completion of the race.

Overall awards will be issued to the top three men and women in both the Half Marathon and the 10K.

There will also be awards given to the top three men and women in age group categories for both the Half Marathon and 10K. The age group categories for men and women in the Half Marathon and 10K are as follows: 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over.

First Responder awards will be issued to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, male and female finishers.

What is the transfer/refund policy?
Your registration is non-refundable and non-transferable, even in the event of illness or injury. Rollovers to upcoming years or other events are also not accepted.

Can I switch my registration to another distance?

Anyone wishing to transfer their own registration for the Half Marathon to the 10K or vice versa. All wishing to transfer from the 10K to the Half Marathon will be charged the difference in registration fees plus an additional $5 for processing. Those transferring from the Half Marathon to the 10K will not be refunded the difference in race fees. For entry transfer rules and procedures, please click HERE.

Are there discounts available?
Yes. You can receive a discount if you are an annual CARA member. You are eligible to receive $5.00 off of your Half Marathon entry. You will be required to list your membership number when you register online.

How do I confirm my registration?
All participants who have registered online will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of online registration. If registering by mail, you WILL NOT receive an email confirmation. Online registrants may also click HERE to confirm your entry. Please allow 2-3 weeks after registering for your name to appear on this database. Entries mailed in will need to email Registration@CapriEvents.com to confirm entry information.

Can I use my own timing chip?
No. You will be supplied a disposable ChronoTrack "D Tag." Any other tags and chips are not compatible with the ChronoTrack system. For more information about the "D Tag" please visit www.chronotrack.com.

What is the ChronoTrack "D Tag"?
"D Tags" are a disposable, accurate and hassle free alternative to the typical timing chip. They are easy to apply, lightweight and eliminate the need for pre-race chip pick-up and post-race chip retrieval. For more information about the "D Tag" please visit www.chronotrack.com.

How do I get my timing chip?
Your "D Tag" timing chip will be attached to your race bib and will be distributed with the rest of your race materials at Packet Pick Up.

How do I attach my "D Tag" timing chip?
The D Tag will attach directly to your shoe. In the case that we have a rainy race morning, please be sure to attach your chip indoors. For detailed instructions on how to attach your timing chip, please read the following instructions.

What time do the races start?
The Half Marathon will start at 7AM and the 10K will start at 7:30 AM (or 10 minutes after the half-marathoners clear). The Junior Dash starts at 9AM.

Will there be a gear check?
Gear Check will open to all participants race morning at 6 AM and will close at 11 AM.

Will the race go off in waves?
No. All Half Marathon athletes will start at 7AM, and all 10K athletes will start at approximately 7:30AM. Everyone will be staged according to pace.

Is there a minimum pace?
Participants must be able to maintain at least a 16 minute/mile pace for the Half Marathon, for a finishing time of 3.5hrs at 10:30am. As the park paths will still be open to the general public, please be prepared to abide by city officials at key intersections on the course. The Park Paths will still be open to the pubic.

Will there be pace groups?
Yes, there will be pace leaders running even splits for the Half Marathon distance.

Where is the start and finish?
Both Half Marathon and 10K races will start just steps away from Chicago’s Lake Michigan waterfront at The Park at Lakeshore East. Click HERE for a map and directions.

Will there be aid stations?
There will be a total of 8 aid stations for the Half Marathon and 4 for the 10K with Gatorade and water at each.

Where is the Junior Dash?
The Junior Dash will be held at The Park at Lakeshore East.

How long is the Junior Dash?
The race will be staged in the following age group heats (age as of 5/16/10): 2-4 years - 50 yards • 5-6 years - 1/4 mile • 7-12 years - 1/2 mile Each participant will receive a finisher ribbon.

Will there be timing clocks on the course?
Yes there will be a timing clock at each mile marker.
